The Counterfeit Challenge Blog hosts a challenge every month to put together kits using your stash in order to use what you have. It is tons of fun and very inspirational. This month, while hopping the design teams blogs, I made notes and used something from each designer. Please see the notes below:
Guest Designer Susan: wood veneers
Julene: chipboard
Leslie: doilie images -- I was going to use stamps like her but chose a packaging scrap instead
Lisa: modern approach and gold
Lynnette: die cut abundance
Margie: feminine, pretty and stitch kit with pins
Stephanie: hearts and alpha's
Susanne: metal flowers and green
Jemma: journal pieces
Some of the ladies used some similar pieces but I wanted to pick at least one idea from each ladies kit. Once I got my mind on using some newer items and connecting it with some old, my ideas flew much more steadily. The watercolor roses were adding a current trend to the classic design on the original Jennie Bowlin kit. They were my starting point and motivated the color scheme and direction of my kit. I got my head stuck on the Sassafras Lass papers and was pleased to find that back side of the green paper from the Jenni Bowlin kit had the pretty soft blue hearts on them.
I was excited that I had cupcake liners at home in perfect colors for the Dewdrop kit. I will probably make flowers out of those.
Thanks for the visit!! Hope that you play along. Be blessed!!

You've done such a wonderful job of translating the inspiration into a current update! Very special that you chose a little piece of each of the team member kits & made it your own :-) It's delightfully fresh & pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you Leslie!!
DeleteI like that you found inspiration in each designer kit and then assembled your own with such a fun and fresh take. I like that you added some pages that you pulled out of journaling pads. I like doing that too - it gives a lot more space to tell the story. The Sassafras papers and flowers are a perfect addition too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan!! I'm afraid that if I wasn't intentional about using the Sassafras, they wouldn't get used -- & that would be a shame! :)
DeleteLoving the sweet vintage vibe you've created here.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I see I wasn't the only one that had some of that Sassafrass Lass papers and stickers in her stash. That's actually one of my favorite lines by that company and I had been kind of hoarding it a little bit. I love your kit!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty kit.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great kit, and such a fun idea to choose something from each of our blogs to be inspired by-and still, you came out with a beautiful kit that is true to you and your own style- I love it!
ReplyDeleteHow observant! That was such a cool idea to take away one strong element from each of our kits. I did seem to have a lot of die cuts this month! Didn't realize until you pointed it out. The cupcake wrappers are a perfect nod to the magpie kit. You captured the essence of the inspiration, yet made it totally your own.
