I used Challenge #3 - Title Challenge to join in the fun for the CKC hop. The challenge requirement was to use an unexpected title.  I used a play on words for my title and I used the letters to my title in an unusual way.  In the pictures, Jason and Kurt are riding hay chutes at a farm in Lancaster, PA. I thought that the homograph of shooting, (chuting), added a little whimsy to the page and title. Of course, my children will always be stars in my eyes.  Just to add a little more quirk to the title, I arrange the letters in rounded groupings to imitate the circular chute on one of the slides.

I followed the sketch pretty closely but added a header and footer.  :)

and a color challenge from Scrapmuch?

I love the result of the combined challenges.  I used My February Counterfeit kit  for the striped paper on my page.  Fortunately, my Feb. CKC kit had exactly the colors that I wanted for the color challenge. The two blues were in my cardstock; and, the red and green were the backsides of patterned papers from my kit. I did, however, pull a cute gingham paper to more closely connect the page to the photo inspiration.

I added a few more extras to my kit to work with the sketch and color inspiration.  The doily was purchased from a grocery store quite a while back. The notebook journal sheet came from a Fancy Pants line, I think. The acrylic star was clear so I colored it with a Copic pen.  The flourish transparency is a My Mind's Eye embellishment.

I, usually, create my CKC projects with predominately items in my kit but I never limit myself to only the items that I already pulled to match.  Please ask if you want anymore specifics. I could clarify a few more items but don't want to lose all my readers that really just prefer the pictures.  :)

A Farewell Visit?

My parent's put their Nova Scotia cottage on the market in 2011.  We hurried up for a visit that Summer for fear that it would be our last one.  They, finally, took it off the market this year as it hasn't sold yet. 

I completed this layout with my February Counterfeit Kit.  It has been a tough month to stay scappily, (my invented word), motivated partly because life has been busy, but even more so because of my kit content.  Having prepped a Project Life:Week album and finishing a Disney mini, this is my first 12x12 page all month.  The travel themed, brown papers have me trying to pull pictures that would work and papers to brighten the tone of the page. 

I used a simple graphic sketch from Let's Capture Our Memories to help me too.  I worked with the sketch below to create the layout above to resemble a classic, clean page. I added a muted pink patterned paper, orange and navy cardstock, two alphabets, a few ribbons and the wooden clouds to my kit.

Prepping For A Week In Our Life

Seriously?

Having never done any Project Life style pages before, I am embarking on a new venture to create two projects of this sort this year.  Both projects will be simple, hand written and only supplement my traditional scrapbooking projects.

The first will be "A Week In Our Life".  I believe that in years ahead it will be of interest to refer back to what our typical days and weeks looked like.  My plans include starting with our schedule for the week:

Providing a current picture and brief biography of each family member. 

 

 Presenting our current goals and routines.

Show and describe what things we, generally, wear and eat.

 But, the bulk of the album will be flexible to include our daily stories throughout the week.

All of these cards were cut from my February Counterfeit Kit.

And this is the album that I'm using:

I bought it at The Scraproom Store.

I know there isn't anything particularly glamorous about this project but I believe the story will be appreciated years from now when we don't remember what out typical weeks looked like.  It will be a different perspective than my traditional scrapbooking pages that usually feature more special events.

Please vote for which week I should do "A Week In Our Life" in my sidebar. I want it to feel as random as possible so we don't plan anything different. Thanks!

Top #10 Disney Mini - Epcot

We visited Disney during the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival.  It was so pretty around the park, especially first thing in the morning before it got busy. My picture of the page is not balanced but if I obsess about it, it will only further stall my progress on getting some scrapbooking done today.  :)

I took this photograph yesterday and immediately my camera shut down and notified me that my battery was dead.  I began to assemble the completed album only to discover that I need a second ring of  a larger size to complete the full assembly.  It's piled neatly with one ring.

After a trip to Staples, (and watching my son's basketball game this afternoon), I will complete the assembly , photograph the album and  photograph the page for Top Ten #9.

This uses mostly contents from my February Counterfeit Kit, Bedraggled and Bewildered.

Top #8 Disney 2011

Hi! I'll save you from all the excuses why I'm not getting into my scraproom much lately and creating projects to post.  All I can say is that I know it will get better. :)

Pick #8 for my Disney Trip Top Ten is a two-page spread.  The paper pieced characters, (Daffy, last post and this Mickey), are items that I received in a Creative Memories "only" swap in 2007.  Back then, I was just starting to open up to using products that were not Creative Memories.  I, also, ended my term as a Creative Memories consultant.

We had a great day in Animal Kingdom.  My favorite show in Animal Kingdom is The Lion King and my favorite ride is Kali River Rapids.  The picture far right includes my parents and the boys watching the Animal Kingdom Parade which is my favorite parade in all of Disney -- so fun! I love all of the animal puppets, music and festive but natural atmosphere.

Top 4-7 from Disney 2011

4. Celebrating Jeff's birthday.  The boys went to the Sandcastle Club for pizza, games and a movie while Jeff and I went to dinner in Morocco, (EPCOT World Showcase) 

 5. I splurged for a once in a lifetime experience on a small yacht at Disney to view the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the lagoon.  It cost less than if all four of us went to an Eagles football game in Philadelphia.  It was so worth it.  Fabulous view and comfortable, relaxing seating!  I surprised the rest of the family for Jeff's birthday.

 6. The Extra Magic Hours were incredible during our Spring Break vacation.  In this first picture below, the boys rode of the Astro Orbiter 3 times before anyone else even arrived.  I know everyone else was headed for Space Mountain or Dumbo.  :)

 6. continued:  Toy Story 2 -- we went on it three times in one day with very little wait!! The park opened 20 minutes before the extra magic hours were to begin!!  We walked to MGM from our hotel and most of the transit had not even arrived yet...lucky us.

 7. It's hard to go to Disney and not visit a couple characters

Bedraggled and Bewildered - February Counterfeit Kit

Good day!

Seriously, I want to make this as concise as possible; but, there is so much to explain.  The Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog is forging a travel oriented kit filled with neutrals, gold, travel ephemera and touches of red and blue this month.

My attempts to counterfeit have left me Bedraggled and Bewildered.  Bedraggled because of the added browns, muddying up the palette and bewildered because of it's lack of focus.  It "travels", (if you will), in several directions.

A cloud paper, (like in the original kit), would have been nice.  But I have used the ones that I had along with some cloud chipboard: kite dream, harvest party and He's So Dreamy, (a personal favorite because of the photo). This sketch challenge going on right now at Let's Get Sketchy would be perfect for working in some cloud paper.

But, I digress.

Back to Bedraggled and Bewildered.  Another photograph of the total contents arranged a little differently:

I started with what I knew I had as a travel themed paper.  The papers are from Best Creation.

I found one full sheet and two 6x6's, along with a couple travel themed embellishments in their paper pocket.  I added two new sequin packs and a couple mini letter block stickers to match.

I wanted to add a little more brown to work with and added some My Mind's Eye sheets.  It has a nice soft blue in it that works well with the Best Creation.

Next up, some blues and neutrals from Pink Paislee.

I thought it had a bit of a postage look to it; and, it will suit me well as I begin to prepare a small album for a "Week in the Life" that I have had as a March goal.  It will be my first Project Life style album.

Did you notice the globe from Bedraggled and Bewildered? 

It was found in an old Creative Memories album planner box holding an incomplete Disney Mini-album and a few items to help complete it.
