If you are here as part of the hop, you should have come here from the amazingly creative Julene Matthew's blog, Julene By Design.
Have you ever browsed through those great monthly scrapbook kit clubs and admired their beautiful kits … but deep down you knew you needed more supplies like a hole in the head? You know who you are - you're the one with TONS of papers and embellishments in your ever growing scrapbook stash. Well, the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog is for you!
Bethany and the design
team are very friendly and extremely creative. Hope that you decide to
play along. A new kit goes up the first of the month. You review
the kit and shop your stash to "counterfeit" the contents in whatever
way works best for you.”
I used Challenge #3 - Title Challenge to join
in the fun for the CKC hop. The challenge requirement was to use an
unexpected title. I used a play on words for my title and I used the
letters to my title in an unusual way. In the pictures, Jason and Kurt
are riding hay chutes at a farm in Lancaster, PA. I thought that the homograph
of shooting, (chuting), added a little whimsy to the page and title. Of course,
my children will always be stars in my eyes. Just to add a little more
quirk to the title, I arrange the letters in rounded groupings to imitate the
circular chute on one of the slides.
For additional creativity, I used a terrific sketch from Stuck?! Sketches
I followed the sketch pretty closely but added a header and footer. :)
and a color challenge from Scrapmuch?
I love the result of the combined challenges. I used My February Counterfeit kit for the striped paper on my page. Fortunately, my Feb. CKC kit had exactly the colors that I wanted for the color challenge. The two blues were in my cardstock; and, the red and green were the backsides of patterned papers from my kit. I did, however, pull a cute gingham paper to more closely connect the page to the photo inspiration.
I added a few more extras to my kit to work with the sketch and color inspiration. The doily was purchased from a grocery store quite a while back. The notebook journal sheet came from a Fancy Pants line, I think. The acrylic star was clear so I colored it with a Copic pen. The flourish transparency is a My Mind's Eye embellishment.
I, usually, create my CKC projects with predominately items in my kit but I never limit myself to only the items that I already pulled to match. Please ask if you want anymore specifics. I could clarify a few more items but don't want to lose all my readers that really just prefer the pictures. :)

Thanks for stopping by and now you should hop over to the whimsical and stunning Lisa's blog, Recklinghausen Musings. The full blog hop list will be published on the-CKCB so if you get lost along the way, head over there to find your way back onto the hop. Don't forget to leave me a comment to let me know you were here and happy hopping!
Hope that you have a fun-filled day!!

Love this layout - everything, the colours, the take on the sketch, the title - it all makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura!!
Deletelove how you have combined not one, not two but three challenges! Go you!!! what a fun layout and how lucky that you had products in the right colours in your kit but I agree that i'm very flexible about adding things in to my kit as the need arises!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your sweet words about me and my blog - I'm blushing!
The hard part is when I have to pass on a great challenge that doesn't fit with some of my current plans. This month is a perfect example as I do not think that I have ever seen so many great sketches in one month as this; and, I committed to prepping my project life and completion of the mini. At least, I'm able to squeeze in a couple of the sketches!
DeleteThank you, by the way!! Sorry for my rant. :/
DeleteLovely layout :) Looks like the kids were having a fantastic time too
ReplyDeleteThank you Tina!!
DeleteI love your take on the sketch and color challenges and wonderful use of your CK! I love your play on words with the title and fun placement too! I also like your sprinkling of tiny dots and stars!
ReplyDeleteThank you Deanna!! The header and footer with the dots and stars became a late addition. I sat back looking at the page before I added them and wanted the visuals to the page to be more grounded so I started with a footer. Then, it seemed unbalanced, to me. I was happy when I thought to add the dots and stars to finish off the page. Thanks again!!
DeleteLove your fun page!! Thanks so much for playing along with Stuck?!Sketches:)
